US State Visit to the United Kingdom - Day 1
On Wednesday, President Trump and his wife Melania Trump started a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom. They were first greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales upon landing on Windsor Castle grounds. They were then formally welcomed by the King and Queen.
Afterward, the Royal Couple, the Presidential Couple, and the Prince and Princess of Wales traveled in a carriage procession through the Windsor estate to the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle where the official welcome ceremony took place.
Then, a private lunch was hosted at Windsor Castle, after which the Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple viewed an exhibition in the Green Drawing Room of items relating to the United States. The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also present.
In the evening, the King and Queen hosted a State Banquet for President Trump and Mrs Trump.
In his speech, King Charles said: “The bond between our two nations is indeed a remarkable one. Forged in the fire of conflict, it has been fortified through our shared endeavours and burnished by the deep affection between our people. Tested time and again, it has borne the weight of our common purpose and raised our ambition for a better world. So, in renewing our bond tonight, we do so with unshakeable trust in our friendship and in our shared commitment to independence and liberty.”
The Princess of Wales first wore an Emilia Wickstead coatdress with Gianvito Rossi pumps and her Chanel bag. She paired the outfit with a Jane Taylor hat and Queen Alexandra’s Three-Feather Brooch.
In the evening, the Princess of Wales wore a Philippa Lepley hand-embroidered evening coat over a strapless gown. She also wore her Aquazzura pumps and her Anya Hindmarch clutch. She wore the Lovers Knot Tiara.
