Nigerian State Visit to the United Kingdom
On Wednesday, the President of Nigeria and the First Lady started a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.
The Presidential Couple was officially welcomed at the Fairmont Hotel Windsor by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The Presidential Couple and the Prince and Princess of Wales then went to Windsor Castle where they joined the King and Queen for the official welcome ceremony.
Then, a private lunch was hosted at Windsor Castle, after which the Royal Couple, the Presidential Couple, and the Prince and Princess of Wales viewed an exhibition in the Green Drawing Room of items relating to Nigeria.
In the evening, the King and Queen hosted a state banquet for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oluremi Tinubu.
In his speech, King Charles said: “The many dynamic connections between our two nations have deep roots and yet I do not pretend that those roots are without a shadow. There are chapters in our shared history that I know have left some painful marks. I do not seek to offer words that dissolve the past, for no words can. But I do believe, as I know you believe, Mr President, that history is not merely a record of what was done to us – it is a lesson in how we go forward together to continue building a future rooted in hope and growth for all, and worthy of those who bore the pains of the past.”
The Princess of Wales first wore a coat by British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker with her Hugo Boss pumps and her Mulberry bag. She also wore a Jane Taylor hat.
In the evening, the Princess of Wales wore an Andrew Gn gown with her Manolo Blahnik pumps and her Jenny Packham clutch. She wore the Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.
