The Duchess of Cambridge attends Taking Action on Addiction campaign launch

Today, the Duchess of Cambridge took part in the launch of The Forward Trust’s new campaign Taking Action on Addiction as Patron. The launch of the campaign coincides with Addiction Awareness Week.

The Duchess of Cambridge met with hosts Ant & Dec and singer Tom Walker before the event.

In her keynote speech - which you can watch below - the Duchess of Cambridge said: ”Addiction is not a choice. No one chooses to become an addict. But it can happen to any one of us. None of us are immune. Yet it’s all too rarely discussed as a serious mental health condition. And seldom do we take the time to uncover and fully understand its fundamental root causes. The journey towards addiction is often multi-layered and complex. But, by recognizing what lies beneath addiction, we can help remove the taboo and shame that sadly surrounds it.”

The Duchess of Cambridge also met former addicts and people who are supported by The Forward Trust to hear about their experiences.

@royalfashionpolice suggests the Duchess of Cambridge is by Ralph Lauren while Caroline Parr got confirmation from the brand that the Duchess was wearing a Christopher Kane skirt (as suggested by Mari). The Duchess of Cambridge paired the outfit with her Ralph Lauren pumps, Demellier London bag, and ASOS earrings.
