The Duchess of Cambridge becomes Patron of Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League.

Today, it was announced that the Duchess of Cambridge became Patron of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League ahead of the start of the Six Nations tournament this weekend.


To mark the announcement, the Duchess of Cambridge went to Twickenham Stadium where she met the men and women teams as well as staff members and referees.

The Duchess of Cambridge also took part in a training session with the players. She said she was thrilled to become Patron of “two fantastic organizations who are committed to harnessing the power that sport can have in bringing communities together and helping individuals flourish”.

In the video announcement, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a Sweaty Betty top (with thanks to Regal RepliKate) with Nike trousers, and Adidas shoes (with thanks to MiddletonMaven).

For the training session, the Duchess of Cambridge wore the English team’s official training kit made by Umbro with her Astley Clarke necklace. While arriving at the stadium, she wore her Adidas sneakers and changed into Adidas ground boots on the pitch.
