King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Södermanland County
On Thursday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Södermanland County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations. They arrived by train at Nyköping's central station where they were received by Governor Beatrice Ask.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia first visited the Södermanland county museum where they saw the newly inaugurated photo exhibition HM The King – 50 years for Sweden.
Afterward, the Royal Couple walked to Nyköpingshus where a lunch was hosted in the Gästabudsalen.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then went to the Great Square where they saw musical performances celebrating the King’s Jubilee.
In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “This is how I imagine the future: Together we take care of the commons, of our nature, and of our cultural heritage. Old fortresses as well as forests, lakes, and wetlands. We remember, we preserve - and pass on to children and grandchildren. As Sweden's king, it is my task to both remind us of where we come from, and encourage all the good progress, and all the sacrificial work that has been done for our current society. The look back sharpens the look forward.”
Queen Silvia wore her Georg et Arend suit.
