Belgian State Visit to South Africa - Day 2
On Friday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde spent their second day in South Africa.
Queen Mathilde first visited the Emuseni Day Care Center where the Belgian association VVOB works with South Africa to enable 6 million children to acquire adequate skills in primary education by 2030 and 4 million children to transition smoothly from preschool to primary education.
Afterward, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the Hector Pieterson Museum, which is situated close to where Hector Pieterson, then aged 12, was shot dead by police in 1976, in the midst of apartheid.
In the afternoon, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Skateistan, a skate school that offers all kinds of after-school educational activities to develop the confidence and skills of young people.
The Royal Couple then visited BEKA Schréder, Africa’s leading manufacturer of Luminaires.
In the evening, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a jazz concert performed by a quartet of Belgian-South African musicians to thank the South Africans for their hospitality.
Queen Mathilde first wore an Odile Jacobs dress (with thanks to GardeRobeRoyale) with her Furla clutch and red pumps.
In the evening, Queen Mathilde wore a Dries Van Noten gown with Percossi Papi earrings.
