Belgian State Visit to Chile - Day 2
On Wednesday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde spent their second day in Chile. They traveled from Santiago to Antofagasta.
They visited the Paranal astronomical site, located in the Atacama Desert. The European Southern Observatory (ESO), of which Belgium is a founder, is currently building the world's largest telescopes there.
They saw several telescopes, including the construction site of the Extremely Large Telescope, the largest optical/infrared telescope in the world, the Belgian SPECULOOS telescope, and the Very Large Telescope, one of the most powerful in the world.
Queen Mathilde wore a Sézane suit with a Sézane jumper and her Tod’s loafers. On the plane, she wore a Max Mara coat before changing into her Canada Goose coat. She paired the outfit with her Gucci sunglasses, her Sézane earrings, and Outdoor Research gloves.
