Queen Silvia presents the Queen Silvia Nursing Awards
On Thursday, Queen Silvia presented the Queen Silvia Nursing Awards to nurses, assistant nurses, and students who have contributed innovative ideas that promote care for the elderly and people with dementia.

In her speech, Queen Silvia said: “Throughout its history, this award has shone a light on the dignity and dedication of nurses whose contributions have improved the lives of countless individuals and families. The ingenuity and empathy demonstrated by our laureates have advanced care practices for vulnerable older populations and inspired wider engagement and dialogue about brain health. They have also reinforced our shared duty to treat every person with the utmost respect and compassion, regardless of cognitive ability.”

The 2024 scholarship winners are Sonata Tomkeviciene (Lithuania), Samira Pusch (Germany), Aleksandr Kobza (Poland), Emma Sandberg (Finland), Natalie Simander (Sweden), and Catherine Emödi Berglund (Sweden).
