Queen Letizia attends World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day event
On Tuesday, Queen Letizia attended an event marking World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day in Madrid.
During the event, Queen Letizia delivered the 2023 Spanish Red Cross Gold Medals. Some of the recipients are Eduard Batlle, general director of the cancer science program at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) of Barcelona, Rafael Gómez, head of the forest fire and emergency department and BRIF coordinator in Tragsa, José Augusto García and María Ángeles García, respectively president and member of the board of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology (SEGG), as well as Mykola Polishchuk, President of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
In her speech, Queen Letizia said: “Behind the Red Cross there is an enormous effort, a collective effort of professionals, volunteers —thank you— partners, administrations, the private sector, we are all part of the Red Cross in some way. An effort for independence, humanity, neutrality, so that whoever needs it can keep walking, because at some point we all need a little help, or a lot of help. And it is what allows us today, at least today, to celebrate those 160 years that began with a couple of apparently simple questions. How do you feel? How can I help you?”
Queen Letizia wore a Philippa 1970 dress (with thanks to Nuria) with Massimo Dutti pumps and her Carolina Herrera bag. She also wore her Gold & Roses earrings and her Coreterno ring.
